Bridesmaids and style!!

From the bridesmaid dresses to the boutonnieres to the centerpieces,

2012 weddings will have even less symmetry and cookie cutter layout (no matchy-matchy, ladies!) than before.

Expect different dresses and shoes on bridesmaids, variations on details like table numbers and place cards, and different rented furniture for each area.

Most of the time, all of these things will still be unified by some type of central theme or mood to keep it polished and stylish.

Intimate gatherings are a trend for 2012!

Couples are starting to think of their wedding as less of an impressive, but somewhat impersonal, event and more of an intimate gathering.

Some weddings will have smaller guest lists to achieve this, while larger weddings will use communal dining tables and creating small spaces within the event room to have the feel of a more inclusive gathering.

The color palettes for 2012 are at seemingly opposite ends of the spectrum. Super creamy neutrals are very on-trend through most of 2012.

However, extra bright pops of color will be present over the spring and summer, such as red-orange, lime greens, and royal blues.

Black is also back in a big way as an accent color.

Something old is taking over in 2012

With celebrities embracing old-Hollywood style comes brides embracing vintage everything.

Brides are bringing back just about everything from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s except the puffy sleeved wedding gown.

Thrift stores and antique stores are the shops of choice for the 2012 bride. Seating displays, table settings and decorations are all taking on an aged feel. Achieve this feeling by including a family tradition started by your great grandmother or putting old wedding photos from both of your families on the tables.

2012 will be a very interesting (and super gorgeous) year for weddings

We expect to see big glam, thoughtful themes, and lots of attention to detail.

Last year’s royal wedding absolutely influenced wedding dress trends. Thanks to Kate’s long lace sleeves, we will be seeing a greater variety of different necklines and lace. Dresses will be much more romantic and elegant than last year. Some will be long, fitted and sleek. Others will be in pale colors such as blush.

Above all, expect more glamour. For several years, we have seen a trend towards simple and in 2012 we will start to move away from that. From sparkly accents to faux fur shrugs, weddings will look more expensive and have that little extra “pop” of opulence.

Bejeweled details will also be popular, such as cool brooches on bouquets, decorating candleholders, and adorning invitations.

Christmas started me thinking… Has anyone glittered their wedding? The Martha Stewart
craft glitter collection is simply amazing. There are so many wonderful colors.

Just imagine how you could incorporate some of that glitz into your big day!

A wonderful brooch and sugar crystals give the cake that glittery sparkle!

Champagne topped off with a rim of fine sanding sugar for a band of sparkle!

Finish the look with a pair of glitter shoes!!!

Everything is just a little better when you add GLITTER!!!!!

Where and how to execute color in your wedding

Where and how you use color really depends on the mood you are trying to create. The best way to get started is to figure out what emotions you want your celebration to evoke. A peaceful country setting, a romantic affair, or a colorful high-energy party?

For instance, a vibrant summer yellow mixed with chocolate brown (think sunflowers and bees) is perfect for a country-chic wedding style: but mixing yellow with hot pink and orange can create a colorful high energy feel.

As another example, leaf green paired with cantaloupe is pretty for a waterside wedding; but pair this green with gold and deep purple shades, you have a color scheme that’s formal enough for a ballroom or an estate setting.

If your wedding takes place in multiple spaces, each room can have a different color scheme.

There’s hardly anything more chic than a fancy black and white wedding. This ball gown with a beautiful belt is the epitome of understated elegance wouldn’t you say?

I would pretty much KILL to see this translate this into a real wedding…

the modern and yet crazy gorgeous black, white, and a splash of your fav color palette,

love the lace details,

the black birdcage veil,

a black cocktail style bridesmaid dress,

and the easy-to-replicate and yet so totally chic details.

Every bit of it is steal-worthy and would make for an insanely beautiful affair.

There’s nothing overly frilly about this scene, yet it is still just so fabulously luxurious.

Blush pink tinted gowns are making a strong presence in the 2012 bridal collections. I have to say I LOVE IT!!!!!!

I am a girly girl to no end, so I love these looks.

The peony is hands-down my favorite flower and paired with pretty pink ribbon so soft and romantic……

add a little mercury glass and candle light, well, it just works!
